$5,000 offered for a site -- What to do next?

Discussion in 'Sites' started by dinarpw, Jan 2, 2008.

    Hi all,

I was offered $5,000 for a site that I own and run.

I've never sold a site before, what should I do?

I have not agreed to the price yet but the person sent me their agreement for me to have a look at it. They're now waiting for my response.

In the agreement they said they were going to do the payment through Escrow.com. Has anybody ever used this? Is it any good?

I checked the site www.escrow.com but I couldn't open the page. A message appeared:

I thinkit must be the IP address which is from Indonesia that they have blocked. But not so sure though.
The company that gave me the offer sent me their phone number but that's it. Don't know their company name or address etc.

If this is legit I don't want to jeopardize the opportunity. I need all your help/ suggestion/ advice/ feedback....

    Thanks.

    Dinar.

Escrow is legit. Tell them you can't access the escrow site.

What about both opening a moneybookers amount for the transfer? they also have an escrow system, although it is a bit more simple.

escrow is a very safe way to make $1000+ transfers. But they don't support some countries such as indonesia.

Western Union is a good option for you

You would receive money pretty fast (within a day) and you can send all the site details then

    Thanks

You can also insist on an Irrevocable Letter of Credit from a trusted bank.

You make an agreement (contract), they pay your bank, your bank holds the funds until you can confirm that you have fulfilled your end of the deal, then the bank releases the funds.

...but you'd probably be better of with SEDO.

Yup - $5,000 is too much money for PayPal fees. And if you never had a large transaction like that, they would probably hold your money too...

Escrow is legit and you should use em if your country it supported.
I never heard about this and I won't use it as they seem to be using a reputed companies name to their benefit.

If Escrow is not supported then you can use Western Union.
