Contest $49.95 for a simple, elegant, travel blog logo.

Hi everyone!

So my latest project is a new blog that I'm starting for my upcoming year (or more) of backpacking around Asia and Eastern Europe, and I need a logo for it.

The specifics:
Name of site: The Aspiring Nomad
Tagline: Boycotting the everyday since 2011
URL: See sig. (although I haven't designed the site yet, so pay no attention to it)
Prize: $49.95
Duration: 72hrs (unless I find a winner before that obviously)
File types needed: .PSD (jpg, etc. optional)

The site will basically be a travel blog and photo gallery. It'll be written in anecdotal/travel magazine-ish style. The logo should support the connotations of the site title, adventure, freedom, discovery, etc. It should also be elegant and clean. I'm not looking for 3D graphics or complex artworks. The logo itself should also be standalone (ie: not integrated with the title/tagline).

For the design, the first thing I thought of was a footprint of some sort, but that's probably really cliched, so I'm open to all design ideas, because I don't have all that clear idea what exactly I want. As for colour, I was thinking white/orange, and the logo itself will be on a grey background on the site. As the competition progresses I'll give as much detailed feedback as possible, so keep the ideas coming

I also have a very strict plagiarism policy. If you throw together any sort of plagiarized work, not only will I not accept the submission, but I'll notify the owner of the work and tell them that your trying to sell it.

Okay, so after seeing a few submissions, which were pretty good in their own right, I did pick up a bit of a theme that I think is due to poor description on my part. I think 'elegant' may have been the wrong word to use when describing what I want. Rather than trying to describe in words again, I figured I'd just attach a few logos that are in a sort of style I like. Please note though, I'm not looking for any of these designs in particular, I just like the broad style they're in. I want to convey the not strictly serious, fun, yet still aspirational and 'inspiring' nature of what I want to achieve...if that makes any sense?

I've also decided that the logo can (but doesn't have to) incorporate the name of the site as well, because the submissions so far have implemented this quite well.

First of all, thank you so much to shiuli and ideosmil for their submissions so far. Thing is, I've actually decided the graphic I want, but I still need it tweaked/done properly.

I've attached my quick mock-up on photoshop using one of the images I posted before. Basically I need it to stay this size (overall) and similar to this basic design. What I need done is tweaking of the footprint (get creative here, as I don't want to have copyright issues with the one already in there, although I do really like the 'hole-y' design of it).



Since I've already got a concept drawing, and just need a very simple graphic drawn up, I'm lowering the price slightly to $30. Sorry for stuffing everyone about, but I just can't justify spending $50 on a job that would take someone 5-10 minutes.

So, the specifics again.
- Image size: 475x300
- Orange colour code: ff8000
- Grey colour code:393939
The font I used was Lithos pro, but if you think something better suits your footprint, use that.
- Files: .PSD needed. Vector drawing would be huge bonus if you can provide one.

Small elements of the design can be changed if you think it would look better, this is still a contest after all.

Wow! that was quick. They're all great, although at the moment I'm liking Datkouten's best, followed closely by number 1&4 of ideosmil's. One minor change as well, (I could even just do it after I get the PSD file), but can we lop off the 'since 2011' from the end of the tagline so it's ends up as just 'boycotting the everyday'.

Time's up! Drum roll please........Congratulations Dante777!.

It was an extremely close call between your latest design and Dakouten's, but yours stands out a fraction more, without being too in your face, so it won by a hair. There are just a few tiny changes that I'd like you to make before we make the trade:
- Can you make the foot fit into the text like the other entries (ie: foot next title with Nomad offset and tagline below it. Like Dakouten's but a bit more spaced out and in your current font)
- Can you make one with the foot all orange, and maybe even another with the a different shade of orange or something else added? The dark grey may be a bit imposing.
- Can you ditch the background so it's transparent.

And, as stated before:
- file needs to be 475x300px, with the graphic filling it up pretty much to all edges
- Need to provide .PSD, vector graphic of foot (or whole thing) would be huge bonus, but not strictly needed.

How would you like to be paid? Is paypal all right?
