I have decided I am going to be more than likely giving this domain to a non for profit organisation as a donation. I need to however determine a value for it. Any help would be highly appreciated. If nobody can give a price for it can someone point me to somewhere that specializes in 'niche' style domains? Again as stated in a previous post 420 is as good as a word, a highly targeted term in which this domain fits. 420 in most terms is for partying, smoking marijuana, etc. Those who know the term know what I mean. Please do not be distracted this fact as the domain can easily be used for pro or against, even if you are pro or against. Any other info I can provide to figure an actual worth on this domain please let me know and I'll try my best. Thank you to anyone in advance.
Well considering I've had multiple offers even when not trying to get rid of it, or the domain being active for in the xxxx range I sure would hope so.
Please forgive me if I've misinterpreted you - but are you saying you've had offers in excess of $1000 for this? If so, sell it!
who would want to buy it? a lawyer that specializes in possesion cases or Norml.... ok maybe the be smart, dont start people as well... somebody offers you anything for it...take it...just my 2 cents
Yes I have, people have been almost begging me for years for it. Am I the only one who sees the worth on this domain? 420, law, huge searches for this type of info, even setting up a free site for info and charging lawyers specializing in such a field to advertise on the site could make some very good $$$$ I would have but never have had the time. Already paid for appraisals showing well into the thousands, was hoping to get some other objective advice though or opinions. People stating domains that make no sence that have no market on here are claimed to be worth mid to high XX, yet a domain that makes perfect sence, is long registered, has a huge market and is a short .com is worthless? Just trying to see the justification for that
As much as I have no reason to disbelieve you, it strikes me as odd that someone has offered four figures for the .COM version of the domain, but has passed on the opporutunity to register .NET, .ORG etc. for pocket change. Perhaps if you have parties interested in 420law.com, it might be a wise idea to register the other TLDs. Not only may it make your .COM appear more valuable, you may also be able to make even more money selling the others.
I don't see that hard to believe at all, a dominant domain you'd want to spend big bucks on why would you buy .net, .org, etc. If someone is willing to pay 4 figures I'd think personally they would want .com I know I would. Most .net, .org or also owned either by the person who also owns .com or the person who was late to the party and decided ohwell I'm not to serious, I'll settle with the .net, etc Don't get me wrong I own .nets. .us, and others but can easily see why someone would not want the .net, .org, etc on a domain unless they also owned the .com. There are exceptions to this of course, especially with .org and non for profit organizations
I entirely agree that .COM is by far the best top-level domain. However, we're talking about an undeveloped domain here, and valuing the .COM at more than 100 times the .NET seems a little over-optimistic. I too would be hesitant to register a lesser TLD if I didn't own the .COM, but the professional domain squatters (the ones with tens of thousands registered) who have much greater knowledge of the value of a domain than you or I would jump right in there and register .INFO, .US and the like if they genuinely felt that the .COM was worth $1000 or more. Again, I might be wrong; but if you are getting offered four figures for this domain, I urge you to accept the sale as it seems to me that you've been extremely lucky to find such an enthusiastic buyer.
I do partially agree with what you have to say, but just imagine a person or business with a vision for the domain name they'll be willing to offer much more than a 'squatter' or someone just thinking it's a cool domain name. That is exactly where the offers have come from, people who wanted a .com for a business model, the domain fit perfectly into their model, since I refused to sell I'm sure they instead of even looking into .net, .org, .us, etc bought their backup domain name they had ready to go. Or at least I would think this is what the people who have offered have done, noway to know for sure. I'm giving the domain name and a few others away anyways, was trying to get a few different figures for worth for tax purposes Already paid for professional appraisals, and was hoping for some unprofessional ones as well.
