I have seen lately high amount of 404 pages reported by Google Webmaster Tools.
As I think these requests are coming from automatic content generator tools what crawl the web using search engines and grab specific content for a keyword from them.

A request like this looks like:

    http://www.travelgrove.com/blog/wp-..."c0 r"><a href="/m/imgres?q=youtube+train+car

    or

    http://www.travelgrove.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/Coober-Pedy-Home.jpg" width="66" height="50" alt="image"/></a> </div> <div class="c0 r"><a href="/m/imgres?q=hotel+opal+coober+pedy

Now I have redirected these wrong URLs to the right image, however I am not sure if there is anything I should do more. These links are coming from sites like this one:
    http://ezwayreports.com/nsg-hotel-opal-coober-pedy.html
but I am pretty sure this is an automatic tool since I can enter ANY url and the domain returns me a page; here is an example:
    http://ezwayreports.com/nsg-cheers-to-all-digitalpoint-forum-users.html
but it also works for lorem ipsum:
    http://ezwayreports.com/nsg-lorem-ipsum-dolor-sit-amet.html

    So my questions here are:
    - should I do anything more?
    - should I report these sites as spam?
    - what program is this? for what are people using it?

Ok let me add some quick notes:
    - The 404 links are NOT coming from my site, as I wrote in the post, they are coming from external domains
    - only expert comments please
    - I have experienced 500 404 links from one day to the other (and still counting).
    - Is there anyone facing the same issue?

    cheers
