404 Not Found - error

Discussion in 'Web Hosting' started by mihirx, May 1, 2012.

Hi all, want to develop new website at http://finerpackersmovers.com but I get 404 Not Found - error while trying to access from my PC, have tried accessing it through online proxy sites it shows up fine with contact info.

I have tried to run cmd (as admin) ipconfig /flushdns but still getting the same 404 Not Found - error.

How can I solve this issue?

    Thanks in advance :)

    Thanks for the reply Tropp.

I tried this cmd: ping finerpackersmovers.com

It says pinging to finerpackersmovers.com [173.193.106.10] with 32 bytes of data

    with 100% loss

    domaintoip.com says ip of finerpackersmovers.com is 209.190.24.9

209.190.24.9 is what its pointing to.

I can think of two things immediately off the top of my head.

    1) You've recently changed the hosting/IP of the site and the new IP is slow to propagate to your ISP
    2) You've previously edited the hosts file of your PC to point the domain to 173.193.106.10

If you've never edited your hosts file, you could try a complete browser cache clear and the flushdns command a few more times, then restart your PC and Modem Router. See if the problem persists after reboot.

Thanks again Tropp :) Maybe your 1st point is true, I changed the name-servers yesterday, around 18hrs ago. That could be the issue.

Appears to be working from this location. Likely just an issue with propagation.

could be propagation, broken link, also misconfiguration from the domain register.

Still having issues mihirx? Looks like you may be having some DNS issues. Are you sure you are pointing to the correct nameservers? If so, you may need to contact your hosting company to check the zone. http://www.intodns.com/finerpackersmovers.com

thanks all, added A name IP 209.190.24.9 & solved the issue.

Have added CNAME to point www.finerpackersmovers.com to finerpackersmovers.com, getting 404 error over there right now, will wait for sometime & see if its a propagation issue or else will add A name IP 209.190.24.9 for www.finerpackersmovers.com as well.

    Thanks again all :)

You can also use www.intodns.com next time to check any DNS related problems.
