4000+ adwords clicks 1 conversion

Ive had over 4000 clicks spread over several different niches and had just 1 conversion.

For some reason I get conversions from organic results but not PPC, same keywords, same everything apart from the fact Im paying for the traffic.

    Strange that.

Even stranger that when I first started PPC I couldnt get conversions from organic listings only from PPC! lol

But I dont want to try and analyse it I find it quite funny in a way

Are these over-competitive niches. Lets say its something like "Make Money Online" then folks would be clicking tons of ads until they find a program that fits their fancy.

I suggest on PPC side you should re-analyze the niche you are choosing and then create effective 1 campaign at a time. Make sure you have a daily budget set and if you see no conversions, dump it and move on.

It ,means that you wasted a lot of money ? Your keywords migh be too generic, try to put 3 words- keywords. Conversion usually higher but cliks will be less.

It appears your keywords are not geared towards people in "buy" mode. It also could be your ads are encouraging clicks from tire kickers rather than buyers.

The problem with bench marking conversion is that it depends on how you define a conversion. A reasonable rule of thumb for conversions is probably aim for 3 to 6% for enquiries and 1 to 2% for sales. 0.03% seems a touch on the low side whatever the conversion action you require.

Actually the keywords were all very targeted. I only used exact match, occasionally phrase match.

I think the problem was I was testing many niches and deleting the campaigns before they generated enough clicks to produce a sale.

Heres something else I find funny.

Ive been doing Adwords since 2004 and my very first campaign (when I had no experience whatsoever) made me a ROI of around 800% and I had another very profitable campaign running as well. Yet here I am 5 years later and I cant make a profit with Adwords LOL

Are you tracking organic and PPC sales? Any problems with your tracking software in the past?

Are you sure? If you've got broad and phrase match keywords listed are you using negative keywords? If not Google will be showing you for variations of your keywords additionally e.g.

If you list the phrase - mod sales. Google will also show you (real example) for:

    - military sales
    - mod motorbike sales
    - mod car sales
    - military hardware for sale
    etc etc etc

The way to check is hit the keywords tab then 'see search terms' (only available in new interface) - you may get quite a surprise!!

dear it is look your keywords is too general and i think it is broad match type
and i will recomend some tips:
1- try to tighten your match type as if it is broad convert to phrase and if it is phrase convert to exact and the exact match type is the better match type for got conversions.
2- add more negative to your campaign choose your irrelevant keywords and add it as negative and keyword toll will help you on that.
2- Run search quere report and know which your keywords appear your ads and click may be you spend money in another keywords

    Thanks

I don't use broad match, always [exact] and "phrase". I only use one keyword per adgroup so I get high CTR's.

I wasn't aware you could see the search terms in the new Adwords interface. That'll be very useful!

-make sure your ad states what you expect them to do; ie, buy, pay a fee, do a survey, etc. many times ads unnecessarily lure visitors in who have no intention of doing what you expect them to do.
    - also make sure you use negative keywords such as -free or others based your tracking so you exclude people with different expectations as yours.

yes you need to track so that you can do directed split testing and be able to eliminate non-profitable ads.

I think you first have to learn affiliate marketing deeply . then immplement it .I think for newbi adword is not good because it needs higher stragies to be successful with adwords.

It doesn't matter you are new or old to adword, but you will get beaten sometimes. I used to feel crazy with with Adword sometimes:mad: but it also gives me magic, when I pick the right niche and keyword.

So keep on testing, trash anything that don't convert and study on new niche, move on
