I spent ZERO, ZILCH nada. What I did was write just 1-2 articles a day, submit to Ezine articles and other article directories and also link to other peoples blogs for my CPA. So for example, if I was promoting santas gifts, etc. I would go out on Google, research blogs and other pages that talk about christmas gifts, leave comments at the bottom saying... "Hello, I have a santas gift store or a special offer, please go to my link". Now these comment pages are high PR blogs, and thats all I did. I commented on high PR blogs...I also used a tool called Comment Hut http://www.commenthut.com/ that I managed to be beneficial to me. Always promote products that are in demand. BANS stores worked well for me for this method...but its its excellent way.. I did not spend anything on Google Adwords...all that was needed was a bit of thinking..write a few articles, comment on other peoples blogs that are relevant and are talking about in demand products.. I also used YAHOO ANSWERS!, which is a goldmine for this method...
How was your success rate on yahoo answers? What I mean is , out of how many answers that you made, how many got picked as "best"?
I made duplicate accounts, tried a little blackhat methods...used proxy servers and voted best answers for myself too..and asked others to vote for me.. Here are my stats for my earnings... These are in British Pounds, so to convert in dollars..double the figures...as you can see in last 3 days I was averaging nearly $100.00

The affiliate network I used was Commission Junction. I promoted Ring Tones, Christmas Gift products, School Essays, Pet dog sites and fitness products. Yahoo! Answers was great for fitness products.
