This is a contest from one I had originally posted that I have decided to split up into parts. Maybe not everyone wants to do the whole project, so I will first do a contest for a logo. The logo contest will be open for 72 hours. It may be extended if necessary. I have an associate who needs a few items to help with his branding of his new restaurant. I will try to give as much detail as possible below. The restaurant is a thai food restaurant, the name of the restaurant is (B e n j a T h a i R e s t a u r a n t) It is a Thai cuisine restaurant, located in a small mountain town in BC. -Logo - The logo needs to be scalable, preferably vector, good on white or black, and look good in black for black and white printing. It has to have an authentic Thai feel to it. Colours should be colours you would associate with Thailand, but it is up to your discretion as long as it has an authentic feel to it. I will be continually checking this thread, if you have any further questions, please let me know. I will do my best to provide feedback on the designs submitted, and will be showing my friend along the way.
Sarsh11 - not bad, but a couple things...it is in black and white, but he needs first a colour logo but one that looks good in black and white for black and white printing. Secondly, it is a bit too chinese style with the chopsticks. Thai cuisine does not really use chopsticks. Tightwad - While clean and web 2.0, it really doesn't have the authentic thai feel, and the object above the lettering...none of us know what it is or what its significance is. jharrvis - Quite nice...so far it is the closest in terms of feel and colours. Benja means 5, and the lotus flower seems to reflect that nicely, I don't know if you had intended that when you designed it. However, the B letter is not very distinguishable to us. All the other letters are fine, but can you clean up the letter B a bit? 2 people (my wife and the owners wife) who have seen it like it because of its uniqueness and can recognize a chilli pepper in it, and me and the owner have trouble making out the B. If you can just define it a bit more, that would be great.
jharrvis - looks good, the B is much better. Can you show me how it would look on a white background? sarsh11 - I like it myself and it is good work, but my friend and his wife are not quite as fond of it. IM3D - The owner and his wife really like yours, and really like the incorporation of 5 into the logo at different points. They were wondering if you could make the top of the temple pointy, and if you could play with the colours a bit, using colours like gold, red, royal purple. Maybe a Gold temple with red BENJA To be fair also, can you please put it on a white background, as this is how it would commonly come out. You do not have to show it in black and white because its a design I could see working as a black and white logo quite easily, which is to your credit. I like the font for Thai Restaurant, nice and clean, and fits in nicely. If you could experiment with a couple other serif fonts for the BENJA also, it would be interesting to see.
Creations4u - He really liked your logo, its nice work, I like the font you used. tDesigns - He liked your logo too, could you show it in a larger size, as I cannot see it so well. Watari - I quite liked your work, I don't think he liked it quite as much as a couple of the others. He didn't give me a reason that I could help you with though. waiz86 - I will get feedback from you tomorrrow probably. I am no longer in the town he is in, so I have to get his feedback by mail. As a note to everyone...an important factor he just told me about today with the logo is that he is buying an oval sign for his business and if it fits nicely within the oval, it will be looked upon favorably when it comes to making a decision.
