Total Prize: $40 Design: Banner type design Contest End: Saturday 6th November at 18:00 GMT Entries: Do NOT PM me your entries – Please post ALL entries on this thread. Note: Please read ALL of the instructions before putting a design in. Note 2: I have run over 40 competitions here and i ALWAYS pay - even if i don't get what i want. What I am looking for is a simple news widget for my site: www.oilprice.com It should list the latest headlines and possibly a few words from the article – but I will need to see how this looks. Possibly have a drop down to select the sector – but maybe not. Please take a look at the following pages for news widget examples: http://newenergyandfuel.com/ - go down the right hand side and you will find a Wall Street Journal News Widget. http://www.widgetbox.com/widget/cnncom http://www.widgetbox.com/widget/the-new-york-times---breaking-news http://www.widgetbox.com/widget/forbes-breaking-news The design will need to be very neat and should have the following title: OilPrice.com News The latest Energy and Financial News Appearance is very important – it can’t take over the website – but it must be something people would proudly display, so colour and design are very important. It will need a small and subtle get widget button attached to the bottom of the design. I look forward to seeing your designs.
Please let me know if you find the text size too small, I'll increase it slightly. Overall length can also be increased to display more posts if you want. Thanks.
i tought it would be better if add most popular posts too , so people can switch from recent to popular also colors can be easily changed , and any minor changes can be created too, please feedback thanks, naathans
Thanks for the entries – here is some feedback: ALL DESIGNERS PLEASE READ: One thing – i would like the top part to not say OilPrice.com – but Oil and Gas News At the bottom it should have: Brought to you by OilPrice.com Sarah – They are nice shapes – but i’m afraid the colours don’t work for me – they need to be subtle and professional looking. Also the grey highlighting in the centre doesn’t work for me. Hopefully you can have another crack at it. Divineworld – This is quite nice – although i’m not keen on the colour - but it is a nice start. Finalstraw – These look very nice and neat – but they are missing something. People must instantly be able to see that this is exciting news and want to read it – I’m afraid it’s just too dull. I’m not looking for anything garish – but something that is classy, that stands out and says – read me. Could you also apply the changes as listed above. Naathans – thanks for your entry. Sadly it’s not what I’m looking for. Looking forward to seeing more entries.
Thanks for your feedback. Hope this is better... I can tone down the colors if it's a bit much for you. Version 1: Version 2:
Here’s some more feedback. Watari – the designs are nice, but look like adverts – they must look like a news box – not an ad – can you tone it down a little. Finalstraw – i prefer version 1 – but it is very blurred – It still needs to be clearer though – i could quite easily pass this by. I think the white is a bit weak for the title at the top and the article titles should also be black. Looking forward to seeing more designs.
It's blurred because the forum has adjusted the image size slightly to fit. I didn't notice it before or I would've corrected it. Sorry. Will post revisions soon. Thanks again for your feedback. edit:
This contest will be extended until Tuesday now. Here’s some more feedback: Could ALL Designers – please remove the line: The latest energy and financial news. I just want Oil and Gas News – at the top – then the news. (or you could have latest updates) Watari – It’s nice – but i would like it a little longer – Also the NEWS looks a bit strange – could you just have that normal please. It is also a bit wide – could you make it more narrow? Divineworld – Thanks for the additional entry – sadly it’s just not working for me. DrDesigner – very nice – Could you make the globe a bit smaller though. The brought to you by OilPrice.com is a bit too bright – could you make that a little tamer please. I’d also like the get widget button to be on the bottom of the design.
