Total Prize: $40 Design: Banner type design Contest End: Saturday 6th November at 18:00 GMT Entries: Do NOT PM me your entries – Please post ALL entries on this thread. Note: Please read ALL of the instructions before putting a design in. Note 2: I have run over 40 competitions here and i ALWAYS pay - even if i don't get what i want. What I am looking for is a simple news widget that shows Financial headlines from the top sites around the world. Possibly have 3 tabs: US, Europe, Asia – or maybe not It should list the latest headlines and possibly a few words from the article – but I will need to see how this looks. Please take a look at the following pages for news widget examples: http://newenergyandfuel.com/ - go down the right hand side and you will find a Wall Street Journal News Widget. http://www.widgetbox.com/widget/cnncom http://www.widgetbox.com/widget/the-new-york-times---breaking-news http://www.widgetbox.com/widget/forbes-breaking-news The design will need to be very neat and should have the following title: Financial News The latest Worldwide Financial News Appearance is very important – it can’t take over the website – but it must be something people would proudly display, so colour and design are very important. It will need a small and subtle get widget button attached to the bottom of the design as well as a mention of oilprice.com I look forward to seeing your designs.
Text size can be increased if you find it too small. Overall length can also be increased to display more text / posts. Please let me know. Layout 1: Layout 2: (Title Tab aligned centre.) Layout 3:
my entry I can add tabs if you prefer to have them. also do you have the source file for the logo, can do better if I have that. if you prefer you can email it to me.thanks
Thanks for the entries – here is some feedback: Sarah – it’s a nice start, but i’m afraid it’s really not what i’m looking for. It’s just a bit dark and also looks a little scrappy. This design must be sleek and very well polished – also black – or that shade of black – just doesn’t work – maybe something a bit shinier? Power2b – Thanks for the entry – sadly it’s not the right shape for me. Finalstraw – These look nice and professional – but i’m sorry to say – a little dull. Can you do anything to make them more exciting – i think get rid of the greys – in the box and also the text. Chewysmom – Thanks for your entry – sadly – it just isn’t right – This is financial news we are delivering and the design is far too friendly – also the oilprice.com logo should be subtly placed at the bottom – otherwise it’s just an ad and there will be very little takeup. Looking forward to seeing more entries.
Thanks for your feedback. Got rid of the grey, here's another color scheme. Kept it light color wise and increased the overall text size slightly. I'm guessing this is too dark for you but I'm posting it just in case...
Thanks for your entries – here is some feedback: ZinniDoll – Thanks for the entry, sadly it’s just too much for what i’m trying to achieve. I need something subtle , but that also stands out. Watari – I like it. Neat and professional looking – can i see it a bit longer please. I’m not sure on the text in the centre – can you do something to make it clearer. Otherwise – very nice. MA.Gfx – Thanks for the entry, sadly it’s not what i’m looking for. Finalstraw – these are nice and professional looking – but just feel a bit too weak. Manhal – i like it – but it does seem very similar to Watari’s Finalstraw (2) – these are nice – but the top partis just not right – i think it needs to be bigger and bolder – it’s like the design is shay to say it delivers news ïŠ Mr.Legend – Very nice – this is different to the others and stands out nicely. I’m not too keen on how you have OilPrice.com though – could you change that part? Also it looks a bit cartoony – could you tone it down a little bit – as it will be sitting on financial sites maybe have a bit of white in there? Guys - i also have another news design comp at: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1991079 Looking forward to seeing more entries.
Mr Legend - this is nice. But could Oilprice.com be in the design and the get widget button outside the design - this way i can get 2 links into the widget. Also could there be less text for each article - i would like if possible to get 3 articles in. Watari - i like this - nice and simple as a news box should be. Watari and Mr Legend are currently in the lead.
