hello, my try in attachment, different colors and one without the small text kept it simple and without web 2.0 effects (for now) Thank you, Bucko
Hello Joe, My main aim was to keep it 'simple modern professional', sophisticated, display the firm as highly knowledge(illumination), and confident. Hope you like it and would like your feedback. Kris
Wow - we're off to a great start. Mr. Herbers will be making the final decision. However, I will give you some personal feedback on your submissions so far. @biruhato: I like the color and style of what you have achieved. I would probably like to see it scaled down a bit on the HOS part. If reduced now, the smaller text would be too small to be clear on a website use scaled to say 100-125 pixels in height (or letterhead). Most likely we would not want the name "herbers" to be left in lowercase, simply because it is a proper name. For your 2nd entry, I feel that the red arrow is too generic. However, I do like how you focused the logo on the name "Herbers" spelled out boldly. @Bucko: I like these logos, but they are a touch bit generic in feel. I like the HOS over the strong/solid background color. Mostly the gray globe adds to the generic feel. You may be able to adapt it somehow to improve. Also, I believe it's better to keep the "H" in "herbers" capitalized. In your 2nd submission, I do like the Web 2.0 stylized gradient you used. It definitely improves the quality of the logo significantly. @HerDish: Of your 3 submissions, I like the 3rd best. the first has a good color selection, but is somewhat distracting with the shapes you are using on the left. The 2nd one is too much blue. The symbol would probably work better with another color variation. The 3rd one is best. I like the use of orange and blue you applied. The orange reflects the German connection well. I might like to see an alternative font choice for "HOS" and perhaps try it in solid black (gradient, glossed, or flat) to contrast with the vibrant colors you are using in the symbol. Great submissions. Looking forward to seeing some more designs to compare. =)
@krisdude: I really like the color use here. For some reason, I always tend to associate "star" symbols with celebrity or rock stars, etc, which may move the meaning away from a more professional conservative theme. I would be interesting in seeing your horizontal alignment version with "HOS" enlarged over the "Herbers Online Services" text, similar to some of the other submission alignment. However, why I understand what you were aiming for with the illumination metaphor, I'm not sure that the theme will communicate well to users without some possible confusion.
Hello, thank you for good feedback this one has less of a generic feel I hope, I held onto the part of the logo you liked and revised the name to capital letters feedback appreciated, Thank you, Bucko
@HerDish: Thank-you for the revisions. I like the 2nd one in the list. I like the first, but I think the dual gradient effect (in symbol & in text) might be conflicting. I like that you've looked ahead to a possible tagline as well. I'm not sure the solid black pin line would work for a separator though. @Bucko: I really like what you've done with the revisions here. Nice improvements in the globe. I think we need a contrasting dark color to give it a little more boldness and impact. @YoGem: Looking forward to seeing your submission. =) @XPYOUSEF: I think it's really interesting how you combined 3d with some mirroring. However, I think this might be a little too creative for the more toned down professional vibe we're looking for.
