4 Year Old Adsense Account disabled after crossing $5000 (8 Months earnings)

Well, right now I am filled with regret and stupidity. I did nothing wrong and my 4 year Adsense account is disabled stating that my websites are low quality. I filed an appeal and it was rejected too.

I was earning income from Adsense for the past 4 years with these websites. Google was happy to pay me for last 4 years without hesitation and now they have disabled my account after it crossed $5000.

I am from India and last January I got temporarily transferred to work in US. Hence I did a payment hold and allowed the money to pile up in my account. As of last week the account crossed $5000 and hit $5100 mark. My account got disabled and here is the reason from Google.

"It is important for a site displaying AdSense to offer significant value to the end user by providing unique and relevant content, and not to place ads on sites with little to no original content. Additionally, Google ads may not be placed on non-content-based pages.

Your site should also provide a good user experience through clear navigation and organization. Users should be able to easily click through your pages and find the information they are seeking."

Here are my questions to DP community.

    1) I am a loyal customer being a part of Adsense team for the last 4 years. I know Adsense team does send warnings to publishers. Why couldnt they have sent me a warning saying that they want me to remove their code in any of my websites?
    2) Why did they pay me for last 4 years and disabled my account after crossing $5000. Is this a kind of money drama. Have they disabled my account just to not pay me $5K? I am sure if I would have withdrawn my monthly check, they would have never closed my account.
    3) I asked for $5000 back and got denied too. Is there a way I can get this back? Right now I am in US. Can I take legal actions against Google to get this money back.

    Looking forward for your replies.

Wow I have no idea how that might feel. A few years back I lost $1500 and it hurt like hell, I couldn't imagine losing $5k I'd go nuts and maybe even sue them.

Usually they should pay you the last remaining money since your account hasn't been closed because of invalid clicks.
Also the fact that they pay you for years and suddenly stop is no indication, because it depends on the manual review of your site.
Perhaps you can ask for account reopening by saying you'll use adsense on correct sites and not on the old ones.

You asked why Google would disable your site after four years and yet you posted its reasons why it did: you were putting ads on pages with poor content, and these web sites were hard to navigate. If that's true, then it makes sense. For all those years you weren't meeting up to Google's standards, but you flew "under the radar" like thousands and thousands of other publishers. Then you let your account balance go up to an insane amount. This probably caught someone's attention at Google, had them wondering why you weren't cashing out (maybe you died? became ill? forgot you had the account? etc???). That led to your own site being investigated and the reviewer discovering that it wasn't up to standard. I'm not saying that this is exactly what happened, but that this is the scenario that makes most sense to me.

Moral of the story? Just because Google never slaps you on the wrist, it doesn't mean that you were never doing anything wrong or it was okay with your websites. That's why it's always, always important to never, ever take your site's status with Google for granted or assume it doesn't have issues. From time to time read various stories from other webmasters who got into trouble with Google, then review your own sites to make sure you're not making the same mistakes they are but aren't knowing it. And yes, do that no matter how long you've been a member of Adsense-- 5, 10 years, doesn't matter. If on the day of review there's something wrong it'll just disable it.

If your account was disabled then there's nothing you can do.

That's very disappointing, would you be willing to show an example of one of your sites?

One of the most common mistakes you could make is to put adsense on every single page of your website. This is simply NOT good.

About your "closing statement", I don't know "how much" is considered as "little content" (word count?), but I surely know I wouldn't put adsense on a page that is solely duplicate content even if I had the permission to use it (affiliate programs, data feeds etc). Maybe I'm stretching it too far and even losing some money, but that's just me. Better safe than sorry.

Not 100% true. You couldn't have more than one account on same name, but you may have another in your business name. I am having two accounts, one with my name and another one in my company name, going smoothly for years.

Coming to the issue, you shouldn't leave the money on the account itself for months, since adsense is a PPC market and anything happen to our accounts even sometimes without our knowledge and the ban comes.

I never hold my money within the account itself, even the minimum amount of $100.

Well, having a HOLD on payment is always a risky option. Possibly they paid your 5K to their cook ;)
I have lost more than this bro... depending on Google Adsense is always an unintelligent idea.

Yes, I know guys. It was my mistake to have holded the payment that long. Anyways I am trying to get that $5K back. Posted in the help forum about this -> http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/AdSense/thread?tid=568e8a71553d3f6a&hl=en and trying to get hold of adsense support through a friend who works in Google. Let's see if things turns out.

But a big lesson learnt - Never put all your eggs in one basket. I did, I failed, I realized and it's too late. Just take this learning from me.
