#4 out of 62,100,000 in 1 week

I thought I would share this with the new webmasters who are searching for great results from their SEO efforts.

I managed to achieve a ranking of #4 out of 62,100,000 in just 1 week, doing nothing more than writing content, using basic SEO techniques and sitting back.

Don't be that impressed just yet. Read the article on this Google ranking to understand that with SEO there are many factors at play that could cause a ranking such as this and why this is nothing to get excited about.

    LOL!

Yes, this is true. But it's not what happened in this case.

My domain is so new as well, I'm seeing big fluctuations in the results on the SERPs. I guess it's all to be expected.

Often sites that rise so quickly fall a little before rising again to find their true position.

It's happy days on the first few days of a website but once the Google sandbox put's your site behind bars your going to have to play the waiting game.

That must take a long time to do in a week. Was it a lot of writing?

Likely because of "New Site Bonus" Google just hasn't figured out where to rank it yet.

@Speakup - It wasn't that much writing. I just wrote the article, published it and it ranked as well.

@vstar - I'm not sure if it's a "new site bonus", I have not heard of that before. I thought the reverse was true in terms of the Google Sandbox. What I have noticed however, is that the SERPs are all over the place. I was #2 earlier this morning, back to #3 , and now sitting at #9.

I'm carefully monitoring metrics on this page and on others in my blog to see why this particular page is ranking lilke it does. I want to understand what's going on with the Google Algorithm if possible and make some adjustments on my other articles. It seems pretty much like a crap-shoot right now.

judging by how you judged the dificulty of the keyword(using the number of results returned by google - not even using the quotes) means that I won't even read your post..is alread useless for me
and I am pretty sure is gone already from 4th

If you ever come to a full understanding of "what's going on with the Google Algorithm" then I suggest you write a book... You'll be a millionaire over night! ;)

Yeah no one knows exactly what is happening with Google. I have finally came out of the "sandbox" with google for one of my websites and traffic increased around 73% according to google analytics.

Thats a good job, but it would be tough going further because Google indexes the pages and finds their true positions based on the links pointing to it and the relevancy.

Even if you go to 3rd page on the search results you may find some sites which are so irrelavant. So, ranking in SERPS would not much value I suppose. Because my blogs too come up on the G's first page for long trailing search words.

Article sits at #8 right now, has gone as high as #2.

Plus, I've seen the number of search results fluctuate from 42,000,000 to as high as 68,000,000. Why is there so many different searches being returned at different times of the day?
