I am having a career blog that receives 25,000 pageview per day. Here are my results after 4 months testing ad placement etc, etc. AdSense: My 4 months experiment using AdSense: It is all about less is more! It is easy to get to the top CTR when you follow the well-known methods of ad placement etc. However, making money with AdSense is not only about high CTR (a mistake of so many AdSense users thinking that more clicks is the main target) – it is also about getting high CPC, Cost per Click for each ad block. Say, you place 4 ad blocks and start testing their performance - Total earning for each ad is - CPC, Cost per Click x CTR Then, you have to delete/move/change/combine until you will get maximum earning for your website. So, it is not necessarily true that when inserting ad blocks on well performing CTR placement, yield better results. I was surprised to realize that the best CPC is not always above fold or within the article (top or bottom of the article). In addition, if you want your visitors to browse you site (aim on getting high page view per user) then don’t annoy them with too many ad blocks. Adsdaq: The same as AdSense - you may lower you asked prices and get your fill rates to rock high. However, total earning depends on – asked price x ad impression. So, you should change prices every day for getting the maximum earning per ad block for the fill rate this ad block receives. As a result, with 10-20% fill rate and top prices you can get the same earning as you may get if you asked lower prices and got 50% fill rate. An important note – AdSense is mainly a CPC network while Adsdaq is a CPM one. So, it is a mistake to switch between these networks (one as a default tag of the other).
