You probably forgot to add the site your "allowed sites" list.

Nope. I've made this mistake a few times probably lost me about $50.
All I saw were impressions on the site and never saw any clicks.

you said its a new site therefore clicks could be coming from PSA which doesn't pay. either that or invalid clicks

Do I have to use the Allowed Sites feature?

"No, it is not a requirement to use the Allowed Sites feature. If you decide not to use the feature, you can simply select the option to allow any site to show ads for your account."

The above is from google, its not a must have, just a choice if you want to.

I use it because I have so many websites i've done in the past for clients or myself that I have either sold or are obviously not in my posession anymore. So it's very handy for me :]. I make pretty quality sites, im not into MFA or cheaper type sites, they don't really pull traffic at all in my experience :/. So I don't worry too much about my ads getting spammed on my sites in particular but possibly others in which I dont own anymore :/. But thanks.
