I think you should create a forum asap if it is appropriate to your niche. Because i think you just lose time if you dont. I also reccomend you to close membership option in your site if it is not needed and only allow forum membership. Because i reccomend you to open your forum on a separate site and forward your users to that domain (on every page) since trying to integrate forum software to existing site can be very problematic in the long term (e.g. your site can be easier to be hacked since it will be difficult to update your forum...)
I have received a lot of hits from overseas b/c they seem to always misspell "landlord". They search for "LANLORD" often. Try this google search "lanlord software". I hit the roof when I saw the result of that search... holy moly.. I was stoked...
There is real webbased software in there and it needs the sign up information. I will get the forum up asap. It's hard to get the first posting though. Any ideas? Seems people don't want to post to an empty messageboard, y'know? I know I don't...
Thanks for your suggestion about this forum. I finally finished it today and just uploaded it to www.freeLandlordSoftware.com. I'm having a problem with registering new members for both the website and forum in one shot. I'm working on that prob with the vendor. But in the mean time, it's up and running. I imported existing members into the Forum db and it's ready to go. Now I need posts... Does anyone have any advice to get a new messageboard populated? I could use some helpfuls... Thank you...
I would recommend chatting to yourself Start a topic everyday, you can use some of your articles as topics of discussion just to get things going. Also make the forum more prominent .. list it in the middle of the home page and invite people to try out the new message forum.
Hi guys, that sounds like a good way to get it up and going. I will try to engage myself in a stimulating conversation. However I cant guarantee that I will be too receptive. Sometimes I tend to blow myself off and that makes me mad. I can be so stuck up sometimes but i'll get over it... Here goes... Oh, and the membership link.. we must have been thinking the same thing b/c this morning I changed that link to read "register". My dumb server is down right now so I can't check my changes but it should be back up w/in 30 minutes or i'm going to fly to india and restart the server myself.. At least I can keep myself company on the way talking real estate...
The forum looks good .. some of the threads you started are interesting. I have two suggestion for you. 1. Make the discussion forum more prominent from the homepage. (This is Important) 2. Keep posting new threads at least once every 3 days. Oh and be patient, the forum will get users, it just takes time.
Hey, thank you for checkin in... I will try to start posting again to the forum. I got a little discouraged after google yanked my adsense account. I had a disgruntled tenant bombing my ads and I didn't report it in time... Anyhow, I am continuing to build traffic while waiting for yahoo PN so i'll get back on the dev path for this site.
