One of my site, 5 month old, in the previous update got PR2. Now all of the page of my site have PR3 except the main page that is still at PR2. Any idea? It's a pre update of PR or what?
Um, maybe you should read the rest of the posts in this thread. You will see that there are quite a few webmasters at DP in a similar situation.
Guys, I saw heaps of these types of comments in the other thread for Google update and what they were saying was happening to their sites was not happening to my sites. I went away for 1 week and come back and see it is happening to my sites now. All I can say is be patient. It will all settle and if you have done your homework, your Google teacher will assess your grade accordingly. Long Live the Teacher!!!
this is the best PR update ever I finally got a bunch of pr6's, pr5's and a lot of coop weight to play with
Man how many of us feel like the dog chasing its tail for PR. Have you taken a bite into your tail yet anyone. And if you did, does it hurt or are you still having fun chasing down a great google pr? lol better yet if you are chasing your doggie tail/google pr are you dizzy yet of trying to understand the whole hype is about. BTW I am having fun chasing my tail for Google PR. I dont think I have gnawed it off yet.
I don't understand it at all. One of my sites main pages, ranks PR4, and has six sub-pages, of which 4 are PR7, and two PR4. Odd. PR SEVEN! And last PR update they were PR4. I have repeatedly checked it. Granted I do have many backlinks to the sub-page. It just seems weird. I think they are just handing out PR now to make webmasters feel better. Haha.
google had some bugs lately so lots of people got some random pr6, pr7, pr8 etc.. couple guys even got a pr10 somehow, but it's not much these days either. All the big boys are heading toward pr12, read matt cutts blog
read between the lines. Google is implementing a new system, pagerank will be devaluted gradually and then inflated..
You need to be careful with "reading between the lines". That's how conspiracy theories get started. The problem is that what's actually there between the lines is empty space. And what usually fills in the space is a feverish imagination. Edit: Thanks for the alert pointing out that your post was tongue-in-cheek, Mchael. Perhaps I need to learn to read between the lines a bit MORE.
imagination drives the creation. No conspiracy theories, just a common sense, some simple calculation and a bit of long term planning will get you there..
In answer to your other question, apparently the smart money is saying that Google will update Toolbar PR twice a week from now on, every Tuesday and Friday. This means we get to read 24-32 times as many "I got a PR2 - what is Google doing?" threads in a month as previously.
yeah, I also thought so, but wasn't sure if it'll be 2 or 3 times a week. It explains why I see lots of my sites getting some pr before actually getting indexed in google, because getting indexed usually takes 2-3 weeks, so first comes the PR and then the site appears in the google index. I think we'll see some more major changes in google algo very soon, it's mostly due to the new bigdaddy datacenters.
I can do better than that: Last night, I had an idea for a new site. It doesn't exist yet but today, just out of curiosity, I checked it at one of those future PR pages and it turns out it's already PR3. I figure with 3 links, it'll be PR8 for sure by next week's update.
Thanx ......you made me smile(*big smile**) Yea, its a weird thing for sure, I just keep on working the way I always do, white hat, new fresh unique content, and dont worry about the pr
What Google is doing with this update is separating two popular google factors - PR and Old Sites The aged domains/ sites do not get their PR improved where as new pages/sites get good PR. Google doesn't want to hand more power to older sites than already by giving them a higher PR update at the same time. So, all those who want high PR can have it from the new sites cause PR power is given to the new sites while high ranking power to old sites/domains
Hmmm I dont know if anyone has brought this up before but maybe this is google's way of devaluing pagerank? Since so many people are selling spots on sites with high PR, maybe google is trying to stop all of this? By giving everyone a high pagerank, people would stop judging sites based on their PR.
