I was just looking at my serps for a particular keyword phrase. I noticed the first 3 positions were different than usual (Yahoo Answers, Yelp and some really spammy, crappy low quality sites above the page fold). This is usually a sign of a major Google Dance. Has anyone else noticed anything funny? I searched the forum but didn't see any posts about it
it's strange..I went back an hour later and it seems to have gone back to normal. I haven't sen any kind of movement...and no reports elsewhere
Its all gone to s*%t in google.co.uk, the results are really not good, I lost many positions which as bad as it is for me it is crazy to see who is ranking well, there are a few companies ranking #1 & #2 for major keypharses that almost everyone in industry have never heard of or have been dormant for 5+ years. Google screwed this one up this time, I know it will take time to perfect but, some small bsiness owners I know are about to let staff go or put them on leave based on the reduced business. One industry im involved in is a very small community of business suppliers where everyone knows everyone and weird sites are now ranking for the major keyphrases and sales that were happening have stopped as a result. So those who might say the business has not gone away its simply being redistributed to other online businesses would be incorrect in saying so. Very annoyed that goverments still allow Google to make such drastic changes to their algo when it can have such a huge impact on local enconomies. thoughts? Im not worried about my businesses as half of my sales are related to offline and we can keep pumping cash into seo to get ourselves back up there, but if google would just tell us what we need to do we could stop guessing and creating more spam!
Lakelandprinting I'm experiencing the same. It happened to me 2 days in a row (as far as I know). One moment I've dropped in the serps. Couple hours later I'm back. It happened for several of my websites at the same time. And not only in google.com, all the english language google domains that I checked it happened. It didn't happen with the dutch google. So it seems that it's something google is doing only with the english language google. Hope it will be resolved soon and the stability comes back.
Google probably testing and implementing few algorithm changes everyday, making SERP positions fluctuate.
