3-way links themselves aren't necessarily a bad idea but I'm always a little cautious when it comes to quick fix solutions proposed by marketers. You have no idea of knowing from what kind of sites your going to be getting links from, where the links will be located on the sites that link to you, whether any of them are in bad neighbourhoods and you can pretty much assume in advance that the vast majority will probably not be topically related in any way whatsoever. Another story is of course that how your site initially gets ranked by Google can be a lot different than how its ranked a bit later on when the spiders have pieced together your whole link profile. That's too many unanswered questions and possibly negative kickbacks for me to spend $47 every month. But each to their own.
