If you are planning to build your own social network, do not hesitate to ask me a question. If you would like to see it live, here is the link: http://www.webmaisterpro.com/ . In the very near future, the team will expand the functionality and hope we will become one of the leading professional social networks. Cheers Kal
Hi Kal, Great site! I've followed you at this DP forum. I'm planning to build my own social site about product reviews and news or directories. I'd like to make friends and ask you some questions if I'm confused about building my site. Keep good working! Rosy.
Hello Kal, to be completely honest I wasn't aware of your site, but hey it looks good. I am just wondering what was the "basic idea" behind it: monetization purposes? building trust & authority? setting you as an expert in that field? Please share with us your thoughts, thanks.
The project started as non-commercial social network. This continued in the first 2 years at the same period there were several major changes throughout alpha and beta testing stages. The main idea was to be able to improve the level of web professionals. It is not a secret that 99.99% of information regarding SEO, online marketing, social media is misleading and many companies/individuals just try to screw-up the customers. Social networks aren't the best money makers, though there are many ways to benefits. Authority, reputation, influences, etc... Every social network require well documented strategy and good financial backup.
The answer is not straight-forward, there is a long documented plan regarding this strategy. Part of the strategy is related to constantly adding new functionality. Another part is related to easy sign-up forms, as well as easy social sharing. The project is included in business incubator program too and this will open many other opportunities for promotion.
Passwords are hashed, so it is not plain text. Well, good note, planning to move everything under SSL next week! Glad that you've joined us, Sarah! Cheers Kal
How many webmasters so far as it's still kinda new of course ? Can we add our own input to the site or it's reading only ? Even tho i've been online since 97, heck i might learn a trick or two hehehehe Looks damn neat by the way Kal !
The first question is a bit tricky, I am sure sure about the number of webmasters, but nearly half of the members are SEO's, probably about 20% bloggers, about 10% web developers and the rest are graphic designers. Sure you can have an input, it is full fledged social network, interface is something between Facebook, Google Plus and Tagged with our own layout. Social network is 90% user content driven. Sure, you are most welcome to join us! Cheers Kal
