I was doing PPC @ msn for a while several months ago.. and I made a couple hundred dollars, nothing to rave about... I stopped for a while and now I am at it again.. this time I am trying adwords for the traffic.. I have a few questions about analysis websites.. WordTracker, KeywordSpy, etc.. Are these sites worth the monthly fee for PPC advertising? A part of me thinks that if everyone is using the same tools then the keywords cant differentiate much... but a part of me thinks if I can just find *1* good keyword the memberships will pay for themselves over the course of the month if anyone cares to add some knowledge about these external sites namely WordTracker, KeywordSpy, Zamdoo I'd like to hear it.. Also, is the general consensus on adwords that I should atleast be making 1 sale/lead per 100 clicks? If so how does one compete on payouts that offer less than $20 per sale/lead.. Good insight is appreciated.. thanks
Instead of those memberships, you can do your own research and odds are it will put more money in your pocket that way. If you throw a wide net and then pick the fish out of the net and just bid on the names of those fish, you'll be doing just as well, if not better, then bidding on terms everyone else is. What I mean is, your net are your starting keywords, which can be found using the free adwords tool, or your own research, (better). Make some adgroups and make them broad match, (make sure you load up on negatives too). Then let it run and keep doing search query reports to find the exact phrases being searched for. Once you find some good converting phrases, start them in their own adgroup on exact match. Keep repeating this and you will have a rock solid account in a couple weeks. The downside is you may lose some money to start, but eventually you'll break even and then profit!
