Creating fan pages are great for many reasons. Sure it can drvie lots of traffic. If you have lots of fans and followers, you can try to create something unique and interesting, that can go viral.

 

This is the basis for using facebook, but doing this alone certainly won't "drive massive traffic".

 

A Facebook fan page works well in a viral marketing campaign provided the fan page contains useful info for those who become fans.

 

Use FBML on your fan page and create a welcome page - have an opt-in and set your fan page to default to the welcome page - your optin rate will triple...
