What are your opinions about implementing 3D into online store web sites? What role do the modern 3D models play in online shopping field?
That's a double sided question. For example, businesses that advertise and even display their products in 3d in the game Second Life have been having sucess. However I have to wonder what kind of 3d modeling you would use for a website. Would you be able to spin it to look at all sides? Zoom in and out? Activate a holographic model to hold in my hands and squeeze? Er..wait, guess we don't have the technology for that yet. Hm. It sounds like 3d'ing products on a shopping site would not be cost productive to me. I mean, how much would it cost per item to make it in 3d? Then compare it to the chance of a profit for selling the item. Is it really worth the cost? Probably not. But hey, I'm not always right. Feel free to explore your options and ideas.
