    I was taught to use cinema4D, great software from Germany! Easy to use and I heard lots of the movies are turning to C4D because of its functions,there are not many tutorials though, but a lot of free models online. Of course Maya and 3d Max are still good. I guess it depends how serious are you about animating 3D. for example, when I was learning c4d, making liquid animation in c4d was still impossible, but I recommend c4d for beginners!
