    Hello,

Just completed the final touches to this site:
    3D Model Design

It uses a wordpress back end with an edited template.
It's taking me weeks to get it to look like this, however, I understand the value of feedback and I would be keen to here all of your thoughts.

The site has been made to compliment my web design portfolio.

Thanks and if you need a wordpress site setting up, then please PM me.

    Best regards,
    David

Overall a pretty good design. Seemed a bit narrow and bunched up for my liking though, especially as the theme of the site is design. Would have preferred the page width bit wider, and the piicture/drawings being larger rather than small thumbnails.

That is really a good design. Tight and sufficient.
Razvan Teodorescu, the author of Mental Disorder theme did a great job...

I feel the background is too bright.

I use a widescreen so there is just too much dead space on the page with a very narrow site design.

a little to narrow for my liking
    but nice enough overall

    1)
get rid of the mouseover effects
I mean...I roll over Contact Us and I get a nifty little box flash up telling me that if I click this it's going to take me to ...guess what..."Contact Us" page

    This is overkill.
It's annoying for a user - are you saying I'm a bit too thick to understand where the links will take me

    2)
The masthead graphic -would look better mirrored
The logo obscures what look to be the most interesting part of the graphic

    Just my two pennerth

yes, I might reflect the logo, make the logo stand by itself and improve that area. Thanks.

The rollover affects are also the same as ALT and will be good for accessibilty, I think I will leave them in, but I see your point.

As for the design, it does use a wordpress theme as the backend template, I modified it quite a lot though.

    SCREEN size and width:
Well, to be honest my original portfolio is much smaller. I always design for people with 800x600 screen resolution, as my local library and quite big group of people have this screen size.
I think maybe in 2 years I will increase my base line size to 1024 x 768

Thanks to all who have commented , so far.
