    I'm interested but I've never bought a .in tld domain before. I'm sort of based in the UK - can I own a .in domain outside of india?

    Yes you can buy .in domains its not like .us domains where you need to be in US. Also .in domains are of India with 100 million+ internet population and growing fast, so you can well imagine the market for .in domains in general
