$350 for 1 Product Page Design contest (Insurance Site) - winner takes all, PayPal

running another design contest:

The Basics:

• Opening date:Friday the 9th of October;
• Closing date:Sunday the 25th of October @ 11:59 GMT;
• Winner gets $350 via Paypal;
• Winner gets to add the design to their portfolio;
• Allowed to submit as many entries as you like;
• Please refrain from PM'ing me submissions - post in thread so everyone has a fair chance of winning the competition;
• 1 Index Page / Home Page web design delivered in PSD format and the chosen winner will transfer all ownership rights to us. This design after this point can not be re-used, edited or re-sold after this point.;
• Submissions that use design templates will be automatically rejected;
• You can use stock media if required with watermarks;

Design Requirements:

We require one, minimalistic/simple/easy to use, first-class, professional looking and usable design for an International Insurance brokerage business website. The current website "Dire ct-Hea lth.biz" (remove spaces) shall be ignored so you can start a fresh - not even the name will remain.

The company sells international insurance products and the website will allow users to browse from product to product and purchase online much like any standard ecommerce system. Because our products are complex (understanding insurance terminology, product benefit coverage, terms & conditions, etc) in nature, please remember that ease-of-use realized through educational features and efficient layout design should be the focus for the page.

• Insurers;
• Education Guides for each product category;
• Country Guides;
• Contact (Google chat, callback, request a quote, appointments, contact details);
• Standard pages (about, contact, how it works, etc);
• News & Blog feeds;
• Testimonials feed;
• Twitter overheard feed;

Products:

• International Medical/Health Insurance;
• Travel Insurance;
• Life Assurance;
• Home Contents Insurance;
• Income Protection Insurance;

Customers:
Customers are located all over the world. Certain medical products are geared toward certain groups of customers. For example, student health insurance products exist to cater for their particular needs.

• Individuals & Families (students/teachers, businessmen, retirees, temporary expats and missionary market);
• Corporate Clients (international schools, NGOs, religious organisations, affinity groups and businesses);

We don't have a domain name or logo yet for the site, so just leave a space for the logo, or write some text.

Design Requirements:

1. Simple, minimalistic, easy-to-use, navigate, read and understand;
2. Extremely well polished;
3. Appeals to markets and products well - something that users expect to see / feel when going to an international medical insurance and travel insurance website;
4. A predominately white background (can use any other colors as long as they don't dominate)
5. Web 2.0 feel
6. Extremely well polished

**Quick update:
Although it's not a requirement, if you want to display certain element of the page that is dynamic: primary links, rollovers, animations, etc then please incorporate these into your PSD as layer groups that can be hidden / displayed to show or hide the animation. You can then post several export pictures in the thread to illustrate how your animation/rollover/links are intended to work.

Hey MasterManiac, thanks for your entry. Its quite simple but I'm afraid I don't like it. Take these points on board to refine your entry:

Think the dominance of red should be avoided - health products + overly red reminds me of blood.. go for something more minimalistic & well polished. The header is all too much like goodhealth and contains no product navigation. Footer should contain essentially all our links that are spaced out in category lists or such like. Body doesn't contain enough feed data (see requirements). I'm left wondering what 'Swine Flu' is - a page about swine flu, news, something else? 'Get a quote' - this kind of system isn't required, just simple product browsing. Background should be white also as mentioned in the requirements section. The gloss feel and floral pattern doesn't work very well I think here also for this themed site - perhaps something more 'organic', healthy or natural would work better.

Thank you for your submission. On the whole I don't like it unfortunately. Its quite generic and bland. Please revise or create a new design based on the following:



Header: Try to be more efficient with the header and navigation links. In your design there are large unused spaces and duplicating links.

Body: Although the layout here is quite simple, as an index page there's nothing special that give me any incentive to continue - its all too lackluster. Where is the main conversion activity? Why can't I do anything with the top portion of the body? - its just text and a picture. There's also no content driven feed data.

Right menu: 'Request a quote' - what am I getting a quote for? I would suggest that this input form is taken out because as described in the requirements description we require simple browsing of products like an eCommerce system which should be a focus on the homepage.

Primary links: bland and feel too technical.



I hope I'm not being too critical when I say these things. Better to be honest with you I think so that you can improve over time
