$35 Green Logo Contest to be followed by site template and flyer contests. PART ONE: LOGO

This is a 72 hour contest unless someone submits something so magical and wonderful that I may just accept it and end early.
I'm looking a logo that can be used on the site, flyers and other promotional material. The URL will be greensacredspaces.com. The site is for a “green” cleaning business- that is a cleaning service that uses environmentally friendly products that are safe to people and the environment.

This contest is for the logo. I am starting a new small business that will have a website and flyers. After a winner has been chosen there will be TWO more related contests: one for a simple site template and one for a flyer. 1) So keep in mind how it will be used, and 2) the winner may be encouraged/invited to do the flyer and/or site template.

I am open to most any idea, although in my own mind I envision (either the type and or image) in a light shade of green and something friendly. I usually like sharp crisp techy conceptual images- but for this project it should probably be something warm, soft and friendly.

ONE THING I WOULD LIKE: A unique image that stands out in people’s minds. It can be simple but it should be visually striking. You guys (and gals) are some GREAT designers & artists! I have seen some amazing work and love what has been submitted by you folks for my past contests. But I notice that while most of the work is really brilliant that many of you miss the KEY point of a logo: It must grab the viewer the instant he or she sees it and, even if it is simple, they must think WOW! Either because it’s cute or different or unique or SOMETHING special. OK, enough…

The logo should be a combination of the words “Green Sacred Spaces” and some graphic symbol or image. Theoretically it could be just the words in a unique way, but then that will be all you have to work with…

I was thinking of emphasizing “Sacred Spaces” and putting “Green” above it in smaller type or something to that effect, because I really wanted just “Sacred Spaces” but that was not available as a domain. So I added “green” which makes sense, but a longer url (and logo) than I really wanted…

You folks can decide what works best (for what visually stands out in people's minds)

    RULES / REQUIREMENTS:

    Pretty simple really…

The logo needs to be at LEAST 600 DPI PSD file. For judging, contest submissions can be lesser resolution.

The final submission (for the chosen winner) will be a 600DPI PSD file along with all fonts that are used.

The winner agrees to give me all rights to the logo (including distribution, modification etc.) in return for payment. As such entrants can only include content they are allowed to give me full rights to in this manner (no proprietary clip art etc. can be used)

Payment will me made via PayPal immediately following submission of final artwork.

This is my third logo contest and my winners get paid, but I once had a problem getting final artwork. So payment will follow final artwork submissions, no exceptions.

In both of my past contests I decided to pay MORE than I offered, based on the quality of the winner’s work. Thank you all!

Looking at your need of a logo, this is my creation. It is clean and simple.

I think the color scheme is fine but the image by containing part of the name creates a weid separation. For one thing, anyone could lift the logo and add it to anything else 'green'. But it also makes green seem like a label more than a logo. It also certainly wouldn't stand on it's own (ie without the name in type and you can't put the whole name anywhere that the logo is because part of it is "in" the logo. Sorry, I have problems with this.

But overall I like the tee-shirt layout the best and very much- but with the issues mentioned above.

TO PRATEEK (above) - I'm afraid I'm being too critical- but you guys say you want feedback... I think I'm going to go to bed after this and try again tomorrow! Two problems: 1) Overall its too dark and ominous- not soft and happy- were talking environmentally friendly not a mystery or a horror movie! and 2) Overlall, this seems more like a banner than a logo. I can't imagine how this would be put on a business card or a latterhead, or a t-shirt, etc. Sorry... (and good night!)

OK, the green "splatter" is cool but sticking a recycling piece of clipart does NOT a logo make! How about an original graphic- either FROM clipart or not. Here's the test: If I take the logo/symbol by ITSELF is it:

    UNIQUE?
    ORIGINAL?
    MEMORABLE?

And as for type- the approach on the white t-shirt (above) is the best so far. It's NOT very unique or anything but at least its clear, readable and stands out. The scipty last one looks very amateurish (sorry IMHO.) So if you want to come up with the winner I'd either go back to the white tshirt type and a real logo or type along those lines.

As for use- As said in the BEGINNING (see above) the FIRST and foremost use will be on a FLYER and a simple website. THEN there will be promotional stuff- maybe the employees will wear t-shirts with the logo and maybe there will be little gifts with it imprinted on them. Thanks,

    Doug

BTW- say people see the same flyer - or different ones with the same logo - BEFORE they call to book a cleaning appointment... Each and every time they see the logo it should stick in their mind ..."Oh, yeah, I want to try them out..." I just don't think a recycling clipart is going to stand out in people's minds. Where are all the geniuses/artists who have submitted stuff in my previous contests?

Yes! This IS a logo, and so is Lejka's. Yours, the symbol is (WAY) too big for the type and the type- while the RIGHT color scheme is still goofy- stick with the white T-shirt if you can't come up with something original- REMEMBER: CLEAR, READABLE, STRIKING, UNIQUE...

The way lejka uses the type with various colors and the size and where the "green" is placed, etc. is VERY good. Overall its a beautiful design and layout. But personally I dont care for the symbol (in between 'sacred' and 'spaces'-) in fact I dont even understand it. It looks like a greeen carrot man or something? OK, I know its definitely green and a person but....?And the symbol (ie logo) is what this whole thing is about?

But you are both on the right track...

Thank you for your feedback, the "character" in between the logo was supposed to be a leaf head eco man mascot-I tried to put the concept of him abstract so that people's imagination will do the rest - however green carrot image is not really what I expected :)
Before I start to work on the revision let me ask: do U prefer an abstract nature symbol or a concrete mascot more?

Wow! Now we're starting to cook! The TWO best so far are chemicalinck & you_love_me44. In fact, everyone else should study these two because they ARE LOGOS! REAL logos!

Maybe the question (for every logo designer) to ask is, "How SIMPLE can I make a design and it still be original, unique and eye-catching. And IMHO the simpler it is the more likely it is to be catchy.

So far, chemicalinck's is the best. BTW- a GREAT name for a "green" design!!! Anyway, it is simple, clean, compact and, on it's way at least, to maybe being a perfect logo. So what's wrong? Not the type- that works perfectly. If I loved the "G" symbol we'd be all done- and I DO like it the best so far. Who knows, maybe I'lll go with it if nothing better comes down the pike. It's reallly perfectly OK. The 2nd image unfortunately just looks like stock clip art. So if you could play around with the logo image a bit you just might win!

OK, you_love_me44 also has the right idea BUT... he's got the same disease most eveyone else does with their sloppy type: it's all over the place so it's hard to read (visually) etc. If he stole chemical's type (NO, I didn't say that) he'd be almost as good as his. But the logo while being VERY close to a logo is also still on the verge of being clip art. And he (or she?) KNOWS that so started trying to make it more unique with initials. But honestly that sucks. And s/he probably knows that too. So if you_love_me44 can clean up the type and tweek the image s/he might just pull this off. (And DONT steal from chemical!) just learn what he's doing right!

FINALLY, Dex23's is just all over the place. This would work great for a one-time concert or other event. But it's WAY too big, WAY too much type, WAY to hard to read, it's really an invitation not a logo. Sorry.

BTW-- I figured out what I dont like about Chemical's "G" It REALLY is pretty and almost there- but the spot on the top and the type itself gives it a kind of weathered old world look, which in general I like, but for green cleaing someone's home I don't want to convey an old weathered look- like theoir home is run down or our cleaners are a bunch of dirty old fogey's who are going to come into their homes. You know what I mean? Without being too plastic or techy, it's still got to convey "crystal clean" and sparkle a bit. AND STILL BE AN ORIGINAL (brandable) "logo" (not just an initial). More on that later...
