35,000 uniques a day, 10,000 US Alexa - need help monetizing!

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by diaboloney, Apr 2, 2008.

I have a MMORPG gaming site that is getting a lot of hits these days. However, aside from very targeted Clickbank products, I'm generating horrible revenue.

Does anyone have any tips on CPC networks, or even affiliate products or CPA that might allow me to monetize such a large viewership?

    Thanks,
    -Diaboloney

I think you may get more response with a link to the site for people to view. Gaming sites are difficult because its hard to satisfy related needs for your visitors. I think your best chance is to sell advertising space at a base fee instead of click thru cost.

Same here. Prove some place for text links. many starters would buy it, as you have some traffic at the moment.

Adsdaq is great for any website because you set your own CPM rates. The catch is that all of your impressions aren't sold, but you can provide backup ad tags to display when your inventory isn't sold. Here's my Adsdaq review

I don't want my site being discussed here for my own reasons. I will PM the URL to those interested in offering some help.

I was generally just wondering about any campaigns that do well with gaming traffic. The point of selling impressions or ad space instead of clicks or sales/actions is a good one. Thank you.

The most reputable CPM networks didn't seem to want me when I applied when I was at 10,000 uniques a day. Not too sure which networks to try.

Have you tried the usual AdSense/Adbrite/Clicksor route? Or possibly a CPM provider?

I'd love to have those kind of figures! You're very lucky - is the revenue enough for you to do it fulltime?

You could try adbrite, link sales etc. You really should try and get a CPM banner on there.

Just sell advertising space on your website (either by joining affiliate programs or by charging per advertisement).
Once you have a method of receiving payments for advertising, try seeking out websites that are related to yours and asking them if they would like to advertise on your website. I think merchants would appreciate this. I operate my own online business and I have to constantly seek out website to advertise on, so I think it would be nice for the advertiser to approach me.

Are you sure the traffic are "buyers"?

One of the sites I frequent has loads of visitors but they aren't the type to buy stuff. They are more likely to download from torrents. :)

Adsense might do well if you target your keywords properly. Doesn't matter if they'll buy then, as they should still click the ads.
