3305 comments on my blog!

    I have 3305 comments awaiting approval... Most of them are surely Spam.. Any idea how to get rid of them? I cant even open the approval page as it crashes... Perhaps I can go into the DB and delete? Anyone know how?

    Ok got it... Installed and all.. But of the 3000 comments it only showed 27 as spam!

    if you have access to phpmyadmin u can delete the comments via that

    Probably because you installed it after the fact.
    It does very well in catching spam. You shouldn't have any problems after this.

    lol i think my worst is 400 spam comments over night :p

    akismet is good, it stopped all the spam as soon as I installed it (since the default wordpress spam catcher didnt work so I had to delet 300+ comments a day manually).

    Most of them will be spam...
    As you installed akismet later on - only spam comments received after activating it (those 27) will be picked up..

    As all mentioned akismet is very good in blocking spams. If the spams are already there, then go to the database and delete the unwanted comments by id.

    In a query window, type the following:
    DELETE FROM wp_comments WHERE comment_approved = '0';
