Hi All. I have a wordpress website in which I redirect all of the pages to an external website via a 302 (temporary) redirect to view a webinar and make a purchase if they desire. I am working to build backlinks to my site each day. Question: Will my backlinks go to my site and raise the pagerank of my website or will the backlinks and pagerank go to the external site? Thank You
Incorrect; 302 redirects do not pass through to the external website. You would need a 301 redirect for the juice to pass through.
302 redirect doe not pass any thing..... you need a 301 redirect to pass link benefits. In your case it will create backlinks for you domain and not the external one. Also its not good to do or keep a 302 redirect for a very long time... since it can be counted as blackhat seo and your site may be considered as Doorway site. you can read about it on Google Webmaster Guidelines and help.
Hi Again, Thanks everyone for your inputs ... I have my answer now. The guys at SEnuke forum referred me here to find the answer. I will also head over to the google webmaster guide for more info. jdrom Out
302 redirects are temporary, and SE bots are very well aware of this fact. They believe that you will remove it one one day and thus it won't transfer all the domain credits and benefits to the new domain.
