I've been reading quite a bit about the 302 redirect hijacking bug that is affecting sites in Googles index at the moment. There's an interesting thread at http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/03/23/1446237&tid=217&tid=1 in which GG posts and seems to claim that there isn't much of a problem. Does anyone know if there's a way to tell if any sites are 302 redirecting to yours or do you have to wait until you vanish from the SERPS?
Do a site:www.mydomain.com check on Google. If any domains other than your show in the results, check the page headers to see if there is a 302 redirect.
Also I found this page on 302 hijacking to be extremely helpful. Some of the suggestions probably wouldn't do much good, but still, prevention is better than a cure...
Thanks guys, I'll go off and have a read. I know it's probably me being paranoid, but it's scary to think that someone can ruin years of hard work just trying to make a quick buck.
It recently happened to one of my client's sites. The 302 was inadvertent (not done on purpose) and I had the webmaster remove our link as well as notify him of the problem. I also fired off 2 emails to G. Within two days, G had re-indexed/reinstated the pages that they had dropped and the SERP's bounced back.
