    Hey Guys,

So I am doing a redesign for one of my older websites... It pulls up organically on Google... and we are doing this redesign to help improve on our rankings... So I hear that 301 Redirects are the best way to go to not totally lose all of your ranking while redesigning your site is this true?? And if it is true... What is the best way to do it? We are having the redesigned template done so it shouldnt be redirected for too long.. But I want to make sure I do it correctly so that I don't really hurt my site while we are changing the look!!

Please let me know what the best thing is to do!!!

    Thank You,
    Clucks2772

I'm new here so can't place a link but Internet Marketing Ninjas have a great 301 redirect guide you should check out.

Just Google something like '301 redirect ninjas' and it should come up.

Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly!

    Hi !
There are a couple of key situations where you might find it beneficial to implement a 301 redirect:
    • If you’ve moved a page but still want to maintain link juice and prevent links to that page from ending up with a 404 error, or…
    • If you practice affiliate marketing, you can “prettify” your affiliate links.

Hi..this is proper way for redesigning. but main thing is you must be use SEO friendly URL structure, also
You should also declare the language code in the URL (for example: company.com/es/contact.html)

If you're using Wordpress, you can use the 301 Redirects plugin, or the Wordpress SEO by Yoast which includes a 301 redirect function. If you aren't, then you need to code the redirect manually for each link.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

I did same as @ affilorama said. I did from wordpress plugin & now waiting for result . I believe 301 redirection is Google own method so its will be safe way to redirect.
