301 Redirects

I've had pages 301ed to a different page for weeks now and Google indexed the new page but won't deindex the old page. I also have wordpress blogs with domain.com/4/ forwarding to the perma link post and both /4/ and the permalink are indexed. Anyone know why Google would index the original page that gets 301ed?

Do you know if this will somehow keep the links leading to the first (redirected page)? Or will they be gone?
I have some redirects as well, but keep the old ones still online (only removed their content so that it is not duplicated...)

As soon bot encounters 301 status, it gets redirected to the new page. If original page was not crawled in the past (before setting up 301 redirect), it won’t get indexed in the future as well.
