301 redirect

    i just want to know about the url redirection for website hosted on window server.....as for example 301 redirect...non-www to www.....

    Use 301 redirection .
    This is perfect redirection .

    Use 301 with .ht access file .

    but as i know .htaccess is only for website hosted on Linux server...............i am little bit confuse....please tell me the complete procedure....

    are you on windows server 2003 or 2008? you can edit web.config directly if it's 2008.

    301 Redirection is permanent type of redirection you can redirect your url from www.xyz.com to xyz.com or xyz.com to www.xyz.com, for making 301 redirection go to .ht access file and make changes there.
