I have a site that I am moving to a duplicate site with a new domain name. In the .htaccess file I have created 301 redirects for every page to the corresponding page on the new site such as 301 redirect /category/oldpage.php/ http://www.newsite.com/category/newpage.php/. This has worked on every page except the main url http://www.oldsite.com. I have tried 301 redirect /index.php/ http://www.newsite.com and (because it is a wordpress blog) redirect 301 /home.php/ http://www.newsite.com. I am using wordpress 3.01 and and studiopress magazine theme. Any thoughts on how to do this would be appreciated. Thanks.
