Ive heard that doing a 301 redirect via your htaccess can pass along links, PR, Alexa, etc.

How long does it usually take for Google and the other SEs to pickup that change?

Depends on how often your site is crawled. I did this a while back and some pages were updated in the index within a few days. Some have yet to change. As far as PR and links go...it's really difficult to say for certain since the toolbar only updates every 3-4 months and we have no way to tell what our PR is at any given moment.

For the PR, Adam Lasnick said that a 301 redirect would pass it within 2 weeks.
Guess we can trust him :)

I did one and it took about a month before the rankings were passed to the new domain.

yes the rank can be passed but what will be happen with the results in the search engines, i'm not sure that this new domain will be positioned like the previouse (Redirected) one

I don't want to be rude but did you even read any of the responses above? We already concluded (from Adam Lasnick...a Google employee) that the process takes about 2 weeks. Why do you have to post 6 months and confuse the OP?

I wonder it's always 2 weeks for every site and every case. Anyhow, I also was wondering if G passes PR in the same way.

I am actually in the process and waiting on the next update to see how PR passes. The old domain had PR4 and several pages had PR3. Does G passes PR to inner pages just like my old domain had?
