Hello everybody I have just decided to rebrand one of my sites and of course i will try to preserve the serps of my pages. Being a little skeptical that the 301 redirect (page-to-page of course) will preserve 100% of the serps and link-juice i will try to do a test before the full redirect and redirect just 2 of the pages of the old site to their correspondent on the new site . (www.oldsite.com/page-a to www.newsite.com/page-a and www.oldsite.com/page-b to www.newsite.com/page-b to see the evolution. In the meanwhile i want the pages of the oldsite remain unaltered so i won't use "change of adress in wembaster tools" . Is there anything that i should do ? May i consider this test concludent ? Have you done such a test ? thank you .
Nothing worry about for this time. 301 redirect surely help to redirect correct page-to-page. Just insert a simple code at .htaccess file. All files will redirect specific file.
I don't think there is anything else you need to consider. I have 301 redirected a site and it worked OK but the site I did it on didn't have ranking for particularly competitive keywords. Will be interesting to see how your test goes.
Sounds a good plan and testing first is good part of it, analyze things as your process and update us.
