I want to know how much time does it take for 301 redirect to completely transfer links and rankings from my old domain to new one.
I did a redirect 2 weeks a ago, now my old site has same content as new site. Old site is out of search results (not raking anywhere) and new site has not yet started to rank with no links pointing to it yet. Last time I redirected it was a quite fast precess and I could notice the change in just 2-3 days but this time it is more then 2 weeks.
PM me if you can help me.:)

Also wanted to tell you that last month I did another redirect-
    Domain 1- Domain 2
    Now
Domain 2- Domain 3 and also changed Domain 1- Domain 3

I quit using 301 redirects. Let me tell you why.

I had a page with pagerank last year, pretty good pagerank. I changed to a CMS (Content Management System) for a number of reasons, mainly convenience. I had to redirect from .htm to .php for the CMS, used the 301 technique. That page would not rank for anything! So, what I did is created a landing page, SEO'd the crap out of it and used it as my introduction page. Within a week my page got rank back. Not the same rank (for many other reasons than what I am telling you right now), but the point was that it got me back into the game.

I plan to expand the backend of the landing page and the other pages will eventually catch up. But redirects seem to be costly sometimes, no matter what the "book" says. I am more apt to recommend a strong landing page over a redirect any day.

After you put 301 redirects in place, you have to wait for all of the inbound links to the old site to be recrawled and the 301 discovered for each of those links before you're new site will get credit for the inbound links and link text to the old site. Some sites that link to you may get crawled daily but others may only get crawled every 4-6 weeks... So it will take time. Chances are that you had fewer links before so it took less time for all links to be recrawled.

Whether or not your page ranks after you put redirects in place depends on how smart you are about performing your redirects. You have to redirect each URL on the old site to the URL on the new site whose content most closely resembles the content of the page at the URL on the old site. Not only that, but it should also closely resemble the link text of the inbound links to the old page. You should look at the link text for the inbound links to the old pages as well as which keywords are bringing traffic to the old pages before deciding which URL on the new site to redirect to and how to optimize the page on the new site. If you don't do this then all you are going to do is pass PR to the new URLs but they will not rank nearly as well (if at all) because now your link text won't match the content of the page.

301s absolutely work like a charm. I just converted a 4000+ PR7 site from .asp/.aspx pages to extensionless CMS pages. I redirected EVERY URL on the site... and within a month my traffic was back stronger than before and 95+% of the pages on the site were ranking better than before.

The only reason you might not get your rankings back for some pages is if the content of the new page doesn't match the link text of the redirected links or if the on-page SEO of the new page and interlinking between pages on your new site changed and is now weaker for the keyword phrase in question...

Thanks for your answer. I did redirect all my URL's of website and the content is same it just the change of domain. I would prefer waiting for 2-3 weeks more and if i don't see my website back in index then I will hire some SEO.
