301 Redirect Question

I am trying to rank a client in a niche - let's call it - "Taming Wild Horses" - he went out and bought a domain name called TamingWildHorses dot com (again, names are made up to protect the innocent :) ). He has his main site that is totally named something else.

He was wondering if a 301 redirect from TamingWildHorses dot com (which will only have five pages on it) to his main site have any value from a SEO perspective?

I know that some webmasters sometimes share two or more sites - one is the main site and the other site is smaller but meant for a specific niche.

So what is the best way of going about to do this?

I've used this on a couple sites and have clients that have done this.

Unless the domain name was developed previously it appears to have no benefit (other than is someone types that in the URL bar)

I prefer to create mini sites on the subject. They will then rank well for the term. Then with in the sites I add links to the main site to encourage people to go to my main site. This has worked out well for me.

A 301 redirect only passes page rank and juice....the URL will have no impact! Just build out another site at the new URL....thats your best bet!
