Guys, i don't know if its that im retarded or what, but i have a lot of trouble with the old .htaccess files and the apache thing. i have two problems.... 1) firstly when i stick RewriteEngine on Redirect 301 /answer.html http://www.imoose.co.uk/faq_about_free_macbook_pros.html Redirect 301 /free_apple.html http://www.imoose.co.uk/get_a_free_macbook_pro.html Redirect 301 /how_it_works.html http://www.imoose.co.uk/how_to_get_a_free_apple_ipod.html RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^imoose.co.uk RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.imoose.co.uk/$1 [R=301,L] Code (markup): in my .htaccess i get problems. when i try and load the page in my browser i get "the webpage has a redirect loop" which obviously isn't ideal. 2) when i try and mod_deflate i get a 500 error. i think this could be because i haven't set up my server properly or something. can anyone give me a very slow, step by step instruction (without the use of cPanel because i don't have it) to show me how to set up a compressed site. PLEASE NOTE I AM WEBSITE AND SERVER / .HTACCESS RETARDED ... thank you thank you thank you
1. RewriteEngine on Redirect 301 /answer.html http://www.imoose.co.uk/faq_about_free_macbook_pros.html Redirect 301 /free_apple.html http://www.imoose.co.uk/get_a_free_macbook_pro.html Redirect 301 /how_it_works.html http://www.imoose.co.uk/how_to_get_a_free_apple_ipod.html RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.imoose\.co\.uk RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.imoose.co.uk/$1 [R=301,L] Code (markup): You had it saying if not imoose.co.uk then redirect to www.imoose.co.uk which of course is not imoose.co.uk therefore it redirects ....... 2. Have a read of http://www.howtoforge.com/apache2_mod_deflate

I'd guess that there's a link pointing to the wrong URL or some such, running it though http://validator.w3.org/checklink or another link checker might be a good idea. If there's no broken links then ask the question of the authors of ragepank about the errors as it looks almost as though they are not following your redirects properly.
