    Hi,

I have a sub domain that I think my have been penalised, have removed the content of this sub domain and now want to 301 redirect to the homepage of my site, which will be the top level domain. Is this is a good idea or would it be a bad idea when it comes to SEO as it will only damage the top level domain because I am getting PR from the sub domain that has a penalty?

It doesn't matter now as I have decided to close the sub domain account on my server completely and not use the 301 redirect.

    Thanks anyway.

I think you either get banned, or a +0 anyway. So, I don't know if they actually take away points, just don't give you any. It's not your fault if a banned domain links to you, that would be a way for a totally slanderous campaign to happen. I am sure it has happened many times in the past actually. If it worked, people would do it all the time. Shoot, people would be getting sites banned on purpose, just so they could link their competitors on those banned sites. :)

So no it would not help that is for sure.
