301 redirect for SEO question

I have a sports site (site A) and I was thinking of acquiring/buying another sports type website (site B).

My website revolves around all sports (NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, ext) the site I am thinking of buying is about only NBA for example.

    My questions are

    1) If I redirect (site B) to (site A - my current site) should I redirect to the main domain or redirect to the category for best results? Meaning redirect to mysite.com or mysite.com/NBA

    2) Is it possible to redirect individual pages from (Site B) to (site A) - and is this recommended?

    3) Is this against Google SEO policies - I know buying links is - what about buying sites to pass on link juice. Also I know it used to be around 80-90% juice passed on, is that still true?

    4) What is the best way to move content from (site B) to (site A) without getting penalized by Google

    Thanks

301 is best redirect form yes but the general consensus is/are Google are clamping down on domains being brought for this purpose of passing PR.

It is better to begin with nice fresh domain with no history IMHO.

The below are answers for the questions you posted..,

    1. I suggest to redirect to the innerpage as it is related to it. Absolutely no issue if you are buying a NBA domain and redirecting it to the specific page which relevant.

    2. Yes, I think it is possible to redirect individual pages. but i'm not sure whether it is recommended or not.
    3. If the website which you are buying is relevant to the website which is being redirected, then there is no issue with Google. Relevancy is the most common thing what google takes into consideration.

First you need analyze the website before buying it. Check its backlink profile, page rank, duplicate content and domain age. Do NOT ASSUME THAT google will pass link juice (it might or it may not) to the redirected page.

Normally, google takes 3 to 6 months to pass on the link juice.

    4. Most SEO experts recommended is 301 redirection, but make sure the website which you are redirecting is clean and safe. Google never suggests to buy or redirect expiry domains.

    Hope this clarifies your doubt..,

    Thanks
