Anyone knows if I picked up a few dropped domains with backlinks (and PR) and do a 301 redirect to a site I already own, will I be able to gain pagerank from the dropped domains to my existing site?

I am curious about this too. Would the PR even stand the next Google update?

    Hello,

If you are looking for Page Rank, just buy the domain name, design something nice, add your links and you will win Page Rank, but remember use different hosting with different IP C classes :)

    Best,

In my experience, the PR resets after the next update, but usually recovers after a few months. Assuming the content in the new site is about the same as that in the original.

If you're just going to redirect the domain, buying an expired domain with PR only is probably not a good idea. It needs to have decent type-in traffic and link popularity.
