301 Redirect - Endless Loop Problems

    Hi all,

I'm having a problem, which seems weird, to me at least, with 301 redirects. What I'm finding for a few of my sites, is that through cPanel I cannot do a redirect of the WWW to the non-WWW of sites. I can redirect non-WWW to WWW for all of the sites in question, yet doing it the other direction throws up an error that the redirect will cause an 'endless loop'.

I've done some searching but am still at a loss for this.

I've already done considerable SEO to the non-WWW versions of one of these sites, so I'd really like to be able to have that version be the default, and I can't leave the stat quo for duplicate content reasons.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks

As an update. I've actually managed to solve my problem by doing the redirect directly in .htaccess
No idea why it was giving me the error before but looks like a bug with cpanel.

    Anyone else experience the same?

If it seems to be a cpanel bug, it is better to have a chat with your hosting provider describing the problem so that it will come to know whether the bug is from there side or in the .htaccess file.

    Hi,

Kindly Use the redirect URL option in the c panel to redirect which will be working fine.

Yeah. It's looking like a bug with cpanel more than anything. Seems strange they wouldn't have fixed it
