I did a 301 redirect a few weeks ago on my site, pointing domain.com to www.domain.com I just did a site:domain.com check and I show 500 pages. Then I did a site:www.domain.com check and I show 3,500 indexed pages. Is this normal? Shouldn't both results be the same? That's why I did the redirect in the first place!
This may be a silly question, but did you redirect all of your pages from domain.com to www.domain.com, or just the home page ? Having said that, it shouldn't make any difference for this test. I would always expect a site:domain.com search to return more results than a site:www.domain.com, as domain.com includes www and any other subdomains that you have set up. Have you tried these searches across different datacenters? John
