Hello guys. I am a little bit confused.. and i need your guidance and expertise... I own the website www.asianweddingnetwork.co.uk This site has been around for about 3 years or so and a lot of link building and seo work has been done with this domain. Many of the directory pages rank very well with related key words (asian weddings etc) About 2 years ago, we decided the site needed a new look, so we had the site designed and it is now on www.asianweddingnetwork.com (i am sure you agree its a better site, more crisp etc etc) I would like this new look to appear on the original .co.uk domain but I am refraining from doing a 301, as I dont want to loose the age benefit of the original .co.uk. Also, being a .co.uk it will benefit me as I am based in the UK and the site is aimed at the UK market. The inner directory pages of the site rank pretty well too, and I dont want to loose this. So, should I simply have the files transfered to the .co.uk? Is there a way I can minimise any loss of rankings of the inner directory pages in the SE's AND move the new look to .co.uk without a 301? Either way, what are my options? What do you suggest is the best course of action to ensure previous SEO work and future benefits of the .co.uk domain are not lost? Thanks in advance.
The biggest difference I can see between the two from a server perspective is that one is using querystrings and the other isn't. You can use Apache's mod_rewrite to emulate the URL structure on the UK site if you want to use the new template/CMS
