301 advice needed for acquired domain

Hey everyone, just needed some quick advice for this situation.

I have just acquired a domain name that has been registered since late 1999.

Google has 3510 pages indexed, and it appears 99% of them are supplemental results.

The majority of these supplemental results are from the Register.com search page that has been there for about 1.5 months. They are for all kinds of various key words, and the urls appear as follows:

    hxxp://www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/1st?q=Estate+Agents&nft=1
    hxxp://www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/1st?q=Business+Financing&nft=1

    and so on.

Is it worth doing a 301 on these to some place holder page I would create?

Also, it gives the same amount for the www and the non-www. However when you look at the results for the non-www, it's clearly www results. Any idea to why this is, and which one I should choose as the official one for my new site?

Yahoo has 489 pages indexed from the previous owner's site. Most of them have no title or description which means they are about to be deindexed right? They are mainly various versions of .cfm file such as:

hxxp://www.xxxxxxxxx.com/findHome/search.cfm?area=8 with the only thing changing being the number.

There are also some more complex ones with some sort of encryption, but still the same scenario. For example:

    hxxp://www.xxxxxxxxx.com/findRealtor/profile2.cfm?cust_no=%'*W'V\I+%0A
    hxxp://www.xxxxxxxxx.com/findhome/report.cfm?mlsid=&#B/)&LON%0A

is it worth doing a 301 on all of these? Yahoo has only the www indexed, and no non-www.

    MSN has neither version indexed.

Alta Vista and All the Web have the same links as Yahoo, but give the same number for both www and non-www. Just like Google however, all the non-www results clearl are www.

So to recap the quesiton: if this were your domain, what would you do in resepect to a 301 redirect.

    Thanks,
    David

Allow me to show my ignorance.

The page was parked at register.com? And the 3500 pages are those results?

The cfm pages are from the old site?

    Let me think about this.

Yes! Only on Google though, and it's all kinds of random key words. All the other search engines are just the old site.

I think anything related to the old site may be worth trying to save if you can do it quickly. The parked pages should be mass referred to a custom error page or landing page.

I can't tell you how to do that but there is a post on this forum sometime in the last 10 days that will. If I happen across it again I will post the link in this thread.

    Thanks Colby.

Is there no one else out there with an opinion? I figure with all the 301 info I did find on here, somebody should know something.

    Thanks

This is a follow up on what I did.

All the pages that were indexed in a folder that no longer existed, I just made a 301 for the entire folder. I also just picked the www version and had the non-www do a 301.

I didn't worry about the Sup Results. As of now, Yahoo is still showing all those non-existing pages as indexed. Google dropped the majority of them, but still shows 2 that are sup results.

My SERP jumped from 4 to 3, and I am now placing 22 for a high compete keyword that had no results before I purchased it.
