301/302 Re-directs, Go Daddy, Masking, Google, et al :o)

I realize the subject of 301s/302s has been discussed to death, however, I would like to touch on the subject once again.

Go Daddy offers 301 and 302 re-directs. In my research, the general consensus is that a 301 is the best. What do you all think?

Next question involves masking. Go Daddy also gives the option of masking the redirect. Is this a good idea, or does Google look at this a dup content?

    Appreciate your help!

301 redirect is the most efficient and Search Engine Friendly method for webpage redirection. It's not that hard to implement and it should preserve your search engine rankings for that particular page. If you have to change file names or move pages around, it's the safest option. The code "301" is interpreted as "moved permanently". It also has the nice side benefit of redirecting the benefit of inbound links to the new page.

    Good Luck
