300uvs/day But $1/day Income

    Hello,
I have a blog type website in the Ps Vita Hacking niche. After months of work I am beginning to get about 300 unique visitors a day (60% SE traffic, 25% referral traffic, 15% other traffic). Now, I know that isn't much, but I was expecting to get more than $1/day revenue from 300 UVs (from Adsense). My CTR is below zero, my CPC is low and my revenue is low. Here is a screenshot of my site:

(I am testing out amazon affiliates atm without much success)

I have no idea what I am doing wrong or what I am doing right. I need your help Digital Point. How can I make a reasonable amount of revenue off my site? What method do you think will make the most money in my low-paying niche? (Affiliate programs, Adsense, Amazon.)

    Hi there,
Hopefully some of these tips will help..

    1. I think you need to better position your ad's, have a look at an ad heatmap they have one in the adsense tools / help section iirc or perhaps search google for one.
    2. You should also try to blend the amazon ad's in better, so that they match your sites design and colour-scheme.
    3. If using adsense, look at the ads your site gets. Filter out ones that are irrelevent.
    4. Again for adsense, turn off interest based ads. I upped my CTR a lot by doing this.
    5. Bottom line is, your target audience may be "ad blind" ie they just don't click on ads.
Using tips 1-4 helped me improve my CTR and earnings by an order of magnitude, but on a different niche (scrap gold selling)

    Regards, Mark

I see the problems here. First, you're targeting computer savvy users. You should know we don't click that Amazon crap! Haha, but no really I've been there. Your best bet would be to find some more appealing ads for your website, probably even image/flash advertisements. I would try promoting affiliate offers such as "free ipad", "free psp", etc. Of-course, set it up with the MaxMind Geo-IP API so you can make sure you're promoting the proper advertisements relevant to the country they're allowed to be advertised in.

How I do it with my tech websites:
-Target main countries with 15 different ads
-Filter out non-converting ads after 2-3 weeks of statistics
-Any countries with minimal traffic or no good offers to promote, have it display Adsense or Amazon.

Also, looking at your page, my eyes literally skip all of your ads. This could be both because it's Amazon, and it isn't placed very well. Look at some successful sites/blogs and compare their ads look, to yours. You'll get there for sure!

I would give similar advice as the previous member. Change those ads. The visitors looking for advanced topics like exploits are not gonna buy the device from your amazon ads as most probably they already have it.

I had a site similar to this about a year ago. I was getting 700-1000 hits a day and made upto $5USD a day.

Hit me up on PM and I won't mind fine tuning your site when I get some time. Can't guarantee anything though.

I think, like someone already mention, that you are appealing to expert internet uses. I consider myself one, so have my own Amazon affiliate account. So I'm not going to click on anyone else's link. Same with AdSense - I'm just not interested. Different niches have different AdSense profiles. Yours may not be agood Niche for AdSense. I've built many sites that I've tried AdSense on. For 300 uniques per day you can make $1 or $30. Depends a lot on the niche.

But also you need to place the ads properly and make sure they're relevant. You can mark your code to make them more relevant. I think with your site there is also a lot of color, so the ads get lost. AdSense ads need to be in the right place, and also need to stand out in order to get the best CTR.

By the way, your CTR can't be below zero. Zero is the lowest it can be. i.e. no clicks.
